A hand-formed Oribe chawan from Kasen Kiln in Seto, one of Japan’s historic ceramic centers.

Finished with a copper-based green glaze characteristic of Oribe ware, the surface reveals rich tonal variations — from deep emerald to near-black — created through oxidation firing. The glaze flows organically along the rim and exterior, pooling where gravity and flame converge.

The sandy clay body remains partially exposed, showing subtle iron speckling and wheel marks that speak to its handmade origin.
