A refined set of Japanese lacquerware soup bowls, featuring a deep black lacquer finish and delicate Makie decoration in warm gold, red and muted green tones.

akie is a traditional Japanese lacquer technique in which delicate designs are created with lacquer and fine metallic powders, giving the surface a subtle depth and luminous finish.

The lids are adorned with graceful seasonal botanical motifs, including chrysanthemums, bamboo and flowers, creating an elegant contrast against the lustrous black ground.

This is not considered an antique piece, but the quality of the lacquer finish and decoration makes it a beautiful example of Japanese lacquerware to be enjoyed in everyday life.

The original collection consists of 20 matching bowls, stored together in a traditional wooden box. They are also available as individual sets of 5 bowls.
