The vibrant composition combines cobalt blue, iron-red and green enamels with fine gilt decoration in the Kinrande-style, creating a wonderfully layered and decorative surface. 
The repeated geometric lattice patterns provide a strong contrast to the softer floral and pomegranate motifs.

The softly scalloped rim gives the bowl an elegant flower-like silhouette, while the generous use of color and gold reflects the decorative exuberance of Meiji Imari.
